Hello, I am Hong Hae Sun, the representative, director, and filmmaker of Hong Hae Seong Theater.

Following the artistic spirit of my grandfather, Hong Hae Seong, a pioneer of modern Korean theater, I founded this theater as a stage for communicating with the world.

I have always believed that the resonance born from a small stage can reach someone’s heart. With that belief, Hong Hae Seong Theater first opened its doors on June 1, 2023. By inviting orphans, children from welfare facilities, and elderly people living alone—those who often have limited access to the arts—I came to realize that performance can become a source of comfort and healing. Wanting to share that comfort more deeply and more widely, I began a new journey into filmmaking.

Currently, Hong Hae Seong Theater is developing a variety of feature film projects, including <Welcome to Vegas>, <Born Again Korea>, <Love Me Tender>, and <St. Butterfly>.
In particular, <Welcome to Vegas> continues to receive official selections, awards, and official screening invitations from international film festivals across the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Australia, Spain, Romania, India, Thailand, and many other countries around the world. The film has received recognition in various categories, including Best Director, Best Producer, Best International Feature Film, Best Women’s Theme, Special Concept Award, Best Actress, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actor, drawing attention and recognition from the global film community. To date, the film has received 59 awards, 58 official selections/finalist/nominee recognitions, and 5 Honorable Mentions.

Meanwhile, <Born Again Korea>, <Love Me Tender>, and <St. Butterfly> are currently in post-production.

None of this journey would have been possible without those who believe in the power of culture, art, and storytelling, and who continue to support and encourage us. I sincerely thank you.

Hong Hae Seong Theater seeks to become more than just a theater. We aspire to be a creative platform where performances, films, and diverse stories come alive. Through this journey, we hope to communicate with people around the world and share the sincerity of life through art.

Moving forward, we will continue to grow as a multidisciplinary cultural arts space where performers, creators, and audiences breathe together and share artistic experiences. We will continue to carry the spirit of “Art for Life” onto both the stage and the screen.
